Carmex Cult-Fave Original Jar Lip Balm Review

Moisturizers have been one of the go-to products of beauty addicts. Not only can it soften your skin, but it can also be the solution for your long-term dry skin problems. I used to have dry, chapped lips all the time. Especially in instances when I'm always on the go which makes me drink less water than I usually do. When I have this problem, I usually exfoliate my lips and put on a lip balm. So far, I only have one favorite lip balm so I'm open on trying out products to have more choices.

This is why I was attracted to the Carmex moisturizing lip balm line. Initially, I wanted to buy the tube type packaging, however, it was out of stock back then. Thus, I just opted to purchase this Cult-Fave original jar for 139 pesos at Beauty MNL ph.

At first glance, it really looks classic. It has that oldie kind of packaging. Surprisingly, I love how it's designed. It makes you want to trust the brand because it gives off the feeling that they've been manufacturing for a long time. (Which they are -- Since 1937) This makes the product reliability high. If I was given a choice, I would have bought the other packaging because jars are really hard to handle. You have to either use cotton buds or clean finger when applying it to avoid any infection. However, what I love about this packaging is it's really sturdy and small. It's easier to carry on - the - go.

Although the product appears to be yellow, it comes off as colorless when you apply it on your lips. It's very smooth and it glides well on your lips. It does have a tingly mint feeling once applied but it's okay. I have a little problem with the smell though, It has that unexplainable fragrance, like mint and butter combined. If it makes it better, you get used to it after a while. For the product effectivity, it does relieve chapped lips. However, in my experience, you have to continuously use it in order for it to work. For the week that I've been using it, my chapped lips healed. But after I stopped, my lips became dry again. You can't really expect too much if you use any product scarcely. You have to maintain a beauty regimen for it to work long term.

Verdict:
I love this lip balm. It does the job well. However, it's a bit pricey for 139 pesos. I'm comparing the price to my go-to favorite lip balm. If I find a shop that sell much cheaper than 139 pesos, I will definitely buy this again.

Price: 3/5
Packaging: 4/5 (Simply because I prefer tube ones but this packaging is really sturdy)
Product: 4/5

Moist Skin Care: Strawberry Moisturizing Mask Sheet Review

This cold weather we're having this week makes me want to sleep all day and just relax. Although, as much as I enjoy this cold weather, I just want the rain to stop. Since it's really becoming dangerous and hassle to go outside. So before I start my review, let me just remind you guys to be careful outside when it's raining so hard.

Anyway, this review is about another mask that I've tried. I'm really not into masks because I don't feel too comfortable with it. BUT I bought this because of its cheap price. Moist Skin Care Strawberry Moisturizing Mask Sheet is only 29 pesos and I bought it at New Star grocery store at Calamba, Laguna. I'm not really sure if this is safe since it's really cheap and I haven't heard of Moist Skin Care brand before. But I saw that it has a stamp of BFAD approved so I guess it's pretty safe but we're never too sure. All skin care products (even high end brands) are always a risk to us because we're not sure if our skin fits the product. Or in the Philippines we say "hiyang".

This is what it looks like:

Product Description: Rich in strawberry extracts that contain the anti-oxidant ellagic acid which prevents collagen destruction.

The product description sounds really promising. Plus, the packaging is really nice. It kind of reminds me of korean masks because of the texture. It's a plus for the product. It does not look cheap at all.

A part of the ingredients was actually covered by the price. (Sorry) Anyway, the back of the packaging looks common. It has guidelines which is really neat if you're a mask virgin.

This is the BFAD approved stamp which alleviates your worry a little bit. AND look at the expiration date (I think), 2020/05/22 which is a really long time from now so you can leave it in your fridge forever...(haha just kidding). Although, I'm not really sure of this product's availability nationwide since I haven't heard of this brand before so if you guys know where to buy this other than New Star then comment down below. :)

Once you bought a mask, make sure to put it in the fridge so it will cool. Anyway, when you open the product, it has a white mask inside. Wash your hands and face first before putting this on to prevent bacteria. It smells really nice like strawberry which is really relaxing and great.

Warning: Ugly picture ahead (hahaha)

The mask is really soft which is great because you can relax more. Plus, it's a little large for me because it has excess but it's a good thing. It means that it can fit on everyone's faces. So I left it on for 15 minutes and just let it absorb in my skin. Then I removed the mask after and massaged my face for 20 minutes. The directions stated that you can leave it without washing it off. So I did, but after 40 minutes, it started to itch so I rinsed it off. Fortunately, I did not have any breakouts from this.

In Summary:

Availability: 2/5
Packaging: 5/5
Price: 5/5
Product: 3/5

Verdict:

I'm not totally in love with this product since I did not feel any results and it did itch after 40 minutes. But maybe you guys can have a better experience than me. After all, we're all different. Plus, it's really cheap so if it works for you it will be a great dupe for all the expensive masks out there.

Nivea Creme Review

"Soft and smooth" are common adjectives that most people associate with their ideal skin type. I for one would love having that satin smooth and cotton soft skin. Normally, we achieve this by purchasing an effective moisturizer. It led me to this Nivea Creme all around moisturizer which has a lot of positive reviews online. It intrigued me because a lot of people are recommending this product. Even my family loved this so I decided to try this out. Nivea Creme is an all around moisturizer which means that it can be applied anywhere you want it to. In this review, I tested it out in my face, lips and hair.

First let's start with the packaging and price. Is it affordable or expensive? Well, for a moisturizer it has a normal price. It's not that expensive and not that cheap either. It's kind of in the middle. It has three sizes: 30, 60 and 150 ml. The prices are 74, 127 and 214 pesos respectively.

Now let's move on with the cream. So this is how it looks like on my skin.

What I like about the product is that it's really thick. So a small amount can go a long way. However, this can also be a disadvantage which I will explain later. The color of the cream is a normal white as you can see in the picture. But it blends really well on the skin so it's not a problem as a day cream. The smell, on the other hand, is unpleasant (for me) but not that strong. It smells like an old perfume or powder if you know what I mean. It's not a big deal to me because It's just subtle and not overpowering.

For the face, I tried using this as a night moisturizer and a make up primer. It's not good as a make up primer since it's really oily and thick when you put it on. So I don't recommend this as a day cream either. I'm not sure if the reason why it's so oily is because the weather is humid out here but if you guys want you can try this out. In my experience, it work well if used as a night moisturizer before you sleep since it stays on overnight. It did moisturized my face a little after I used it for a week but I didn't feel a major effect on my face. Maybe if you use this longer, you will see better results.

On the other hand, I recommend this for a lip moisturizer or if you're going to exfoliate your lips. It moisturized my lips really well that it was like putting on a clear lip balm. (P.s. it adds glow as well so you can use this as an alternative lip balm. You have to use a tiny tiny amount so as the white color will not accumulate to your lips.)

I recommend this as a hair leave on as well. I use this on my hair everyday after I take a bath and it leaves my hair soft and tame all day.

In summary:

Pros
  - Price is okay
  - Moisturizes well
  - Thick consistency (small amount can go a long way)
  - very flexible ( all around moisturizer)
 - Can be used as a Make-up remover

Cons
  - smells kind of unpleasant but not too overpowering
  - thick ( weighs down on the face as a day cream or primer)
  - oily ( not good as a primer)

Verdict:
I will buy this product again because it works well on my hair. PLUS, it can be used as an alternative make up remover. Although, I won't use this as a face moisturizer because It's not comfortable in the face.

Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm Review

Hi there! So tonight I'll write about my favorite lip balm......THE Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm.

I'm ADDICTED to this product. This is actually my secret in having a natural looking reddish lip all day. I'm not even kidding, some of my friends ask me if I'm wearing lipstick because of the color of my lips.

So this is how it looks like:

Product Description: (From Maybelline website)

Baby Lips moisturizing lip balm moisturizes lips or a full eight hours. Lips are visibly renewed after one week.

Since I've bought this a long time ago, I just researched the product description at the website. Although, the packaging is a bit different there. Anyway, Maybelline offers a wide range of selections in its baby lips series. It's actually a tinted lip balm but I think they also offer a clear lip balm. I bought two colors: Cherry Kiss and Berry Crush. I picked two colors to have variation since I prefer balms over lipsticks. Plus, lip balms are much more affordable than lipsticks. This costs 89 pesos only and you can substitute it as a lipstick since it's tinted. Moreover, you can find this in almost anywhere. They have it on Watsons and supermarkets. On the other hand, the product packaging is a common look for a lip balm. There's nothing unique about this except for the baby lips font which is gigantic. The first thing you'll see is the name which is actually what attracted me in the first place. So kudos to Maybelline.

The colors are not much different. Cherry kiss is just a tad bit lighter and more orangish than berry crush. When you put it on your lips, it actually shines a bit. It's far from matte. HOWEVER, I noticed that after 2-3 hours the color and shine actually fades away leaving a soft plump pinkish/ reddish natural looking lips. I don't know if this is a plus to you guys, but I find this really appealing. Moreover, it really moisturizes your lips. I also apply this every night after I exfoliate my lips to have an overnight moisturizing effect. However, I don't recommend this if you're going to an event and you have a theme look like if you're going to go nude or maroon. BUT, you can always buy the clear one (I'm not sure if they have but I think I remember seeing one, I'm not sure) and apply it before you put on your lip liner and lipstick to moisturize your lips.

Verdict:

I LOOOVE this. It actually relates to its name "Baby Lips" since it leaves your lips moisturized and soft making it like that of a baby's. I strongly recommend this. If you guys prefer lipsticks when you go out, you can just use this as a nightly beauty regimen. This is very affordable for only 89 pesos  and it lasts long just don't lose it (HAHA). I remembered losing one back in high school. (also a Maybelline lip balm)

Love,

Pretty Secret Honey Black Detox Mask Review

Before I start my review, I want to ask all of you to take a moment and pray for all the victims of gun violence this week. :( It is really devastating to think that humans are capable of such horrendous acts.

On a positive note, I tried this Pretty Secret Honey Black Detox mask yesterday. It was my first time actually. I never really buy masks because I find them expensive. My friend asked me to write a review about this before she gave it to me. So here it is.

I find the package interesting mainly because it's black. It actually reminds me of charcoal-themed beauty products. Moreover, whenever I browse beauty products at dept. stores / Watsons, I usually see masks with clean/ white packaging. There is also a rip guide (don't know what it's called haha) at the top so it'll be easy for you to open.

The product includes only a wet black mask. So I suggest for you guys to wash your hands first before opening the product. Moving on, the texture of the mask is thick. It's a soft cloth so it's really relaxing on your face.

Tip #1: Wash the mask and re-use it using your own natural ingredients. (E.g. honey) (I'll try this too)

Anyway, it claims to brighten dull skin while moisturizing and soothing it.
Because I'm a mask newbie, I read the instructions first:

Directions:
1. Wash face with clean water and pat dry.
2. Apply the mask on your face and leave it for 15-20 minutes then remove mask.
3. Gently massage the remaining essence until thoroughly absorbed. (No cleansing required)

Warning: scary picture ahead.

Yes that's me using the product...I look like a ghost...lol. Anyway, the mask itself was pretty big on my face but it's not a problem because it sticks really well. I just included a portion of my chin in the mask. It smells okay I guess. I only have one problem though. The liquid is honey so it's really sticky. I felt really uncomfortable because of this. Nevertheless, it was a good experience whenever you have the time to pamper yourself.

Tip #2: try adding cucumber to have a salon worthy experience.

#3 of the directions included in the package states that it's okay for you not to wash your face afterwards. I tried it but my face got itchy so I had to wash it after an hour or so.

My result picture is the day after I used the product so we can see if it really worked.

Ta daa. That's my face without make-up and filter. You can see my blemishes.  my face appear dewy instead of its natural super oily look. It did brighten my skin a little and it feels soft.

Verdict:
If I have extra cash and feel I need a pamper moment, I'll buy again. However, I'd rather invest my money with a cream type moisturizer because you can use it for a long time compared to masks. Btw, my friend told me that she bought this for 50 plus pesos.

Review: Collagen by Watsons - Moisturising & Repairing Cracked Heel Cream

Hola! I haven't been able to post stuffs because I've been busy with work and well, playing Covet Fashion. I'm seriously addicted to that game you guys and I'll tell you all about it in another post. Right now, I'll focus on my horrifying cracked heel. I don't know if it's true or not that if you try foot spa, your feet will start to grow dry skin so you need to repeat the process again. (Does it make sense?) Anyways, I saw this Moisturising & Repairing Cracked Heel Cream at Watsons and the first thing that I thought was wow the packaging looks really good. It's part of the collagen series (I call it series since they have other products that are made with collagen and almost the same packaging) that Watsons made recently.

This is what the product looks like. As you can see, it's gold which adds sophistication to the product. Actually, all their recently released collagen products are packaged with the same color and design.

Product Description: Collagen by Watsons Moisturising & Repairing Cracked Heel Cream is enriched with nourishing Shea Butter and moisturising Vitamin E which can deeply penetrate and re-hydrate your dry, cracked, and rough heels, keeping them silky soft and smooth after use.

This product cost about 89+ pesos (I forgot the exact price since I bought it a month ago) but I purchased a promo of buy 2 take 1. I find the price affordable that's why I bought it compared to other cracked heel remedies like the one in Human Nature which costs about 150+ pesos.

The product is a cream type lotion. A small amount like the one in the picture can go a looong way since the product can be spread smoothly. I use this every morning since I'm usually tired for a beauty regimen at night. However, it is recommended to use this 2-3 times a day for better results.

Usage: Apply an appropriate amount onto your heels. Gently massage into skin until fully absorbed. Re-apply whenever necessary. For optimal results, recommend to use at least 2-3 times per day.

Verdict:
Sorry I don't have a picture for the results since I bought this a month ago and forgot to snap a before pic. Anyways, for the first few weeks you will not notice any difference with your skin but as you continue using it you'll see that cracked heel smoothen a little. It does repair your cracked heel but you have to religiously apply it every single day. Moreover, you will have to be patient in waiting for the results. What I like about this product is that it lasts long. I've been using it for a month now and there's still a lot left in the bottle.

My rating would be 4/5

Love,
